Somewhat of a newbie and looking at either of these two...difference only being the gear ratio of 6:1 or 7:1. Anyone with thoughts/recommendations/advice?

I guess comparatively speaking, I am open to the Abu STX as well. Just looking for input.

Thanks a lot.

actually the difference isnt only in the gear ratios its the size. and it depends on whatlures yourgonna use the lures for if you gonna punch frog or use the reel for swimbaits then the 300 is the way to go but the 200 is more verstile

Sorry, just wanted to be clear - you said the 300 for crankin, and the 200 more versatile. The 300 is actually the one with the 6:1 ratio and the 200 is with the 7:1

Wouldnt then the 200 be used more for crankin, and the 300 would be more versatile?

no just because of the gear ratio dosent mean it is more versatile and you can find the 200 in a 6:3 ... and the 300 is a bigger reel so it has more power which is why its used mainlyfor swimbaits andfishing thick cover. the 200 is smaller so it can be used for jigs, cranks , finnese, etc....

I have the newer Revo STX reels with the dual-braking and it is a very fine reel, indeed... I have the 6.4:1 and the 7.1:1 versions and they're both very smooth. And after doing some fine tuning with the cast control and brakes, you can cast a mile with it. So, if you get a chance, take a look the STX if you haven't done so yet. You can't go wrong with the Revos...

Good luck in your search...
