Surf fishing along santa cruz beaches/cliffs
Does anybody know what the regulations are for surf fishing in santa cruz? Specifically, along West Cliff Drive. I know natural bridges is a protected beach with no fishing allowed, but what about the cliffs along West Cliff? It seems like there are some good untapped fishing holes here.

not sure about regs but i'd assume you'd need your license and fish limits would apply as normal.
i was there once while riding my motorcycle and stopped by just to see what was going on. found a small family fishing for what seemed like king fish or some type of smelt (wasnt jacksmelt). i would assume perch and rock fish would be caught there too, but i tried that about a month ago and got skunked.
then again i was only using grub lures, so that may have played a role. had i used some cut shrimp an or pile worms i think my luck would've been better.
good luck.
