my Uncle (R.I.P.) left me a few 10' surf rods/reel combos and I wanna put them to use!!

what kind of bait and/ or lures works best.. any help/hints/tips/where to go??? any info would be great!!!

Hey, read through Glenns posts in the Marina beach stripers thread, that dude knows what's up with the surf action. Good luck whenever you get out.

I would say santa cruz or watsonville. The weather has been cloudy and cold lately on the monterey bay.And I haven,t caught any stripers there .The sun comes out earlier in the watsonville and santa cruz area. And when I have caught stripers it has been in the early am when the sun is out. When you look into the waves you can sometimes see them chasing baitfish.that,s where I am gonna go next. good luck and I hope this helps

Glenn is the one to talk to. Don't hesitate to give the perch a try man. I am stoked on em and you don't need a huge rod to catch them. shoot, I saw a guy using a 7 foot bass rod out there, looked like a cranking stick and he was catchin the perch on it.

I have a bunch of Mickey's if you want one, that is what I caught my first striper on and you can cast those puppies a mile.

yeah perch are fun and p1$s easy to catch. take two rods out there (or a leader). if the stripers don't bite, have a little fun w/ the perch

Use a fluke for flounder and put squid on it, and just just jig it

I agree. Glen is a great recourse to gain knowledge from. I managed to get 2 good sized perch my first time out on beach. I used a medium action pole and it made it fun to fight them. For perch cast not too far out being they feed on worms and crabs near shore.
Down south they have corbina for casting way out but those fish aren't around here.
Good luck with this and let us know how it goes :) Also talk to the tackle shop guys to get some good info.
