Post Suggestions for quality spinning reel?
I'm looking to get my dad a nice spinning reel for Christmas this year. This would be a general purpose fresh water setup. Something with a smooth retrieve and nice drag.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for something in the $75-100ish range.

Thanks

might want to grab a diawa fuego while they are on closeout at tacklewerehouse.com. it was about 35% off. or they have other great ones on closeout deals too. good luck. don't get stuck in all the hype most do on the forums. pretty much any reel you buy will be a good reel if you take care of it. same for poles, lures, etc.

Ditto. Those guys are all so nice. I have only been there a dozen times, and they would never recognize me as a repeat customer. But they always spend time answering questions and never make me feel like I'm stupid or wasting their time. A couple months ago they let me take a 1 piece Lamiglas out to my truck to see if it would fit in the cab without hesitating, then talked me out of buying a new reel for it (it was obvious I was in the mood to make an impulse buy). I'm done with the online shopping, and will never buy another rod or reel anywhere else.

I just picked up a Pflueger Supreme XT spinning reel. It's quality, lightweight, and very smooth. They go for around $120, well worth it in my opinion. It's a good compromise between price and quality.
