yes... they probably heard about the striper feeding frenzy that happened over there recently that looked like boiling water.

but...

you can pretty much catch a striper anywhere in the bay right now. i've caught a few now in the past few weeks in "unlikely" spots. unlikely meaning pretty much very minimal fishermen around in not-so-popular fishing areas. and when i caught them, i wasn't even goin for them-- just out fishing.

my uncle has been a hardcore striper fisherman for 25+ years and he told me that you can catch a striper all year long in the sf bay, you just have to know where to look.. and.. "sometimes the hunt is just as good as the catch."

Fished for 3 hours at the dunbarton pier yesterday. Nothing for me. These guys caught a leopard shark and a bat ray though. He kept the bat ray ;|

I was using anchovies, swimbaits, and shrimp.

dumbarton pier is a bit tough. really hit or miss there. most of the fish are caught at the end of the pier due to the deeper channel there.

and that's really it. it gets really shallow there up to the pier's end so even though i live just down the street, i'll usually save my pier trips for berkeley or capitola and just fish freshwater instead.

i have seen sturgeon, perch, shark, rays, smelt and mudsuckers come outta there, but i've never seen a striper.

good luck and post what ya catch!
