Re: Marina Beach Stripers

wow Glenn, that's exciting and super good to see you post.  Seriously they're catching stripers in Monterey bay right now?  Haven't been out in a couple of weeks, I must be missing em :-(. So are you rigged up for Perch, hoping to nab a striper, or are you full on Striper fishing?  Beachpotato Big ...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

Hey Everyone,  I've been so busy at work and fishing that I haven't been posting much.   2016 was a awesome striper year of me.   2017 was another repeat of 2016 which is unheard of to have great back to back striped bass seasons in the Monterey Bay.   I think 2018 is starting off better than the tw...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

Damn good to hear from you Glenn-got me all pumped up again!  Time to refurbish etc.  A sad note to all fisherpeople out there.  You probably already know but Mel Cottons in San Jose- my go to most of the time for fishing, camping etc has shut down after 60 years or so. Bass Pro, Big 5, Fishermans ...

Re: Heavy rains open up Salinas and Pajaro Rivers to the Ocean?

BP,  That's exactly what happened last year.  We got some good rains in January that opened up the rivers and flushed those striped bass out.  We were catching a release 20-30 stripers a day but all were undersize.  You can tell they were landlocked.  They are very skinning and their color looked pa...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

Hello All,  Sorry I dropped off the forums but I had been doing a lot more fishing than posting.  Last year was an incredible striped bass season.  It's only January and the rivers have opened up enough to flush out the stripers.  I think it may be another good year which will be very unusual to hav...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

that would be great Glenn, i'll check it later.  I just did a "Surfline" live camera shot of Marina Beach.  It looks actually clear of weeds and nice and calm.  It appears that way but who knows.  Don't see any green stuff on the beach where this live cam is.  Look forward to the report. BP BP My b...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

Damnit did you go out yesterday Glenn?  Are the beaches still green with seaweed?  Will be there this weekend. BP The green carpet is all along Del Monte Beach by the hotel towards the wharf. I haven't been out but guys said Marina was weedy but you can find clean spots. I get off this morning and ...

Re: 2016 Surf Fishing!

Awesome work of fishing and photo edition Glenn  :) Congrats!! And thanks for all the good advice; I don't think I'll ever go fishing at night but always is good to remember that safety is more important than fishing. There are plenty of fish that can be caught during the early morning hours, durin...

Re: Marina Beach Stripers

I haven't been down to Marina lately but I heard its still weedy up to the sand plant and down to fort ord.  That green leafy seaweed is covering the beach at Seaside.  Go by on a low tide and looks like someone laid astroturf on the beach!!!

Re: 2016 Surf Fishing!

Okay Glenn that definitely looks bigger than 22 inches, and 6 pounds.  You can come clean; lol while I sit here at my desk at work I live through your experiences :)  Looks like that could be my #10 striper ;).  Anyway good catch. Yeah I've wondered about going out at night need a buddy to go with ...

Re: 2016 Surf Fishing!

Yes, I hope I can see that school one day; it must be pretty exciting. Night fish sounds exciting too although a bit scary for me; I'd be all the time imaging that a big shark is going to come out from the water and eat me [green]  I was in Nashua/Molera once and liked the place; then saw some revi...
