READ Stripers&LARGEMOUTH on brink of extinction in the Delta
Hey San Jose Bass Members,
I have been fishing the delta alot this year with my buddies, family, and pros who live up there. I just came back yesterday with a fishing trip with Delta Pro Fishing Guide: Dave Hammond. And This proposal to Annihilate the Striped Bass and Largemouth Bass is more real than it can get. He just came back from the biggest Striper chapter in Isleton the other day discussing the meanings of this in a meeting. First let me start of with the facts of why this is happening. ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!! A specific Kern Farmer who has been persistent in obtaining water from the delta is push for all this to happen. He is growing pomagrantes in the desert. Do you know how much water that take for one tree?? especially in the desert. The DFG is no longer protecting our waters why?? because the biggest biologist for the dfg was paid off under the table to write a bunch of BS about how the stripers and soon bass are invasive. They are going to pump All the water in the delta down south and even though people believe that the stripers will still be able to live in the saltwater and bay their foodchain in the delta will be eradicated because all the baitfish will not survive. The water district companies who take some of the water of the delta already will be able to flip one cubic acre of water that they buy for $50 and sell for $5000 Thats 10000% profit. The BAD side is planning a public annoucement... Guess where and when?? San Diego and acouple days before christmas. Smart because not many from NorCal will be able to make it. Because the DFG is not protecting us we are on our own. The Biggest striper chapter has only $10000 while these farmers especially the kern one has over millions of dollars to fund this. It is said the only way to stop this will mean the word of mouth to other fishermens of how deceiving this idea is. But also meaning that somehow all the fishermen who actually care will need to find a way to raise $10 million to file a solid lawsuit and hire them lawyers. what that will do is cause the actually EPA (feds) to investigate this crisis and prove everything said false which will stop the farmers. I know none of us has $10 million but by educating other it WIll happen. Getting Fishing Business to contribute and that will trigger a mass effect in the fishing industry which will hopefully make huge corporations like shimano, daiwa, gloomis, pure fishing realize that they will lose all the clientele that fishes the delta. BASS will longer have tourneys here FLW and the berth of the High School Fishing Tournament and just started this year will be short live.... Please inform not only other fishermens but family and friends if you care about our fragile fishery.

I suppose I may be partially at fault...for NOT taking politicians fishing. Maybe if more found a love for our sport in the delta inland and coastal waters we might have a fighting chance. Interesting post...thanks for the read!

Just because the striper are invasive does not mean this would justify pumping all the water out of the delta. I believe it is illegal under the Endangered Species Act to destroy habitat that contains endangered species so I don't know how they're going to do that.

Re: READ Stripers&LARGEMOUTH on brink of extinction in the D
Uhhh in other other thread I was talking about the striper regulations and why they are justifiable. I don't see how the farmers are going to get the water bill passed with the only reason that stripers are invasive to salmon. Doesn't make sense at all. I mean it's quite documented that low water levels effect salmon mortality. If farmers are trying to say that ONLY stripers effect salmon populations and its okay to take water because it has no effect, their argument is laughable. Because like I said in the other thread there are various impacts on salmon.

No decision has been made, but they were suppose to decide in San Diego but when anglers spoke up, they decided to change it to Sacramento Feb.1st. Anglers still needs to address their concerns...make time and make it to Sacramento and let the commission know how you feel about the proposal. If you allow these "water hustlers" get their way in 20 years we will have no fishing out of the delta and they will making money off "free water" that is supplied by taxpayer $$$.

Wow. Talk about sensationallism (in regards to this thread's title). As already mentioned this is an old war and this is just another battle. With that said (in regards to this thread's title)... I fish the delta often and I can 100% guarantee that stripers and black bass are not on the brink of extinction.
