 Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
Did some deep sea fishing in Mexico recently and hooked into this 30lb+ Yellowfin Tuna. You should see the steaks we got off this thing.

Beautiful fish whatever it is. I don't think that amberjacks have long fins on the front. Congratulations!!

 Re: Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
Considering the meat of this fish is dark red and the fins are 'yellow' I'm pretty sure it is a yellowfin tuna. Also that's what the charter boat skipper told me it was. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowfin_tuna

 Re: Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
Im 100% sure that isnt a yellowfin. Yellowfin look like fat footballs and that fish has a different shaped head. Also. The body is not football shaped like a tuna. Tuna also have small fins leading to their tail. As I said before im pretty sure its an amberjack

No prob man, no offense taken or anything. Upon looking into it more I too believe it may not be a tuna. Whatever it is that bastard put up a fight and tastes damn good.

For sure man, warm water deep sea fishing seems to be where it's at. I looked into it and agree that it's a Jack Crevalle.

 Re: Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
Thats a biggun...Congrats on your catch!
At first I thought it was a yellowtail which are very common in Mex. Well I was wrong.
BTW...they use jacks for bait in Florida. Definetly not that size.
Thanks for sharing
