**OFFICIAL** We Need Your Support High School Championships!
A short introduction of myself. My name is Anthony, I have been fishing for sometime now and for most of you that know me, you know I try to give back to the fishing community in anyway I possibly can. I fish the College FLW. Last year San Jose State University took fourth in the 2010 Western Division Regional College Championship. Right now our college club is ranked in the top 25 across the nation. I remember when I went on to fullfill my bid for the 2011 FLW College National Championship. It was a tough journey for me because of all the expenses to get out there. I had many people supporting me to get out there. I couldn't thank them enough. I also fish other charitable tournaments like Toys for Troops, CBAF, and other fishing events. I have always felt that if everyone took one week of there time every year to do something for the community, our economic situation would be significantly better.
To sum it up, I am stepping in to make sure the California High School Anglers make it to their Western Regional High School Championship at Lake Saguaro in Arizona; where they will be fishing for a first place prize of $5000 scholarship to whichever college they choose. I will be taking the runner up 2nd place team of Manuel Munoz and Chris Fenk. The reason these two boys will be going is because the first place team had a member that could not make it. However, even though the two boys are going because a team couldn't make it. This may possibly be the biggest tournament of their lives. To add too this, not only is Nicholas Trinh a member on this forum, so is Manuel Munoz. His user name is DMUN. Its ironic that these two friends finished 1st and 2nd. The Fourth place team is also a member on here, Chris Chung.
Here is the situation, the FLW is not providing a boat, so I will be towing Manuel Munoz's Dad's boat down there. He has ever so graciously lent me his Ranger he just recently purchased to make sure these boys live the dream. The FLW has given us a travel expense of about $250. This is enough to cover the gas expense at least one way. The FLW has agreed that anyone using their own boat will receive an additional $200. As of right now, one of my sponsors (Skinny Bear Bass Jigs) has made a donation of $50 to help offset the cost. We will be departing on Nov 17 in the evening and returning Nov 20.
My estimated cost break down
Room and Board 2 nights $109.99 a night x 2 = 218.98
Food for those two $85
Fuel in the boat $65
Fuel each direction 60 gallons @ 3.75 gal = $225 x 2 = $450
Total $818.98
I can't imagine any other cost I am leaving out beside tackle, but I am sure I have it all.
I will be putting a chunk out of my pocket for these boys. I am trying to take out money from the SJSU account to put toward this.
So now I kindly ask, if you can help out whether it is 5, 10, 20 ect. I know economic times are tough on our wallets but anything would be greatly appreciated. Part of the reason I am trying to help out so much is I remember when College Fishing came into play and I though "this is sooo cool!" Then high school fishing comes out and now i think "I wish I had that when I was in high school!" So now, i want to help and be a part of it.
If you can help out, I have my girlfriends paypal set up to receive donations. Her email is
dinh.jennyl@gmail.com.
I also extend to all who help donate (min $10) to have a full 6-8 hour day of fishing with me at either Anderson or Calero where all tackle and gear is provided. And to those who know me....YES, my boat is running now.
I thank you all for reading and all those that help these two boys live the dream...These your anglers are truly the future of Bass Fishing.
Tight Lines,
Anthony
