Post Re: Most memorable fish you've caught
Whats up guys,
Thanks for sharing. BassWanted...that was a touching post. I'm sorry to hear about your dad.
That is why I cherish mine cause I know that he won't be around forever.
Well. Like others, there are many that come to mind but one inparticular occured when I was fishing with my son.
That day my cousin had a baby shower at almaden lake in one of the gazebos. My son was a little over 2 at the time. I decided I would take my newer set up I had just bought. 5' 6" light ugly stik with a shimano reel (Can't exactly remember the model) Any way. We were just hanging out and I told the wife I was going to go down to the shore with our son to get some fishing in. Took my son's hand and walked down to the shore.
The set up I had was a texas rigged senko. 4" purlpe in color.
I wasn't expecting to catch any thing. We started fishing. My son's cousins were with us initally but they took off after about 15 min. Well right after that I decided to hand the rod to my son (with my help holding it of course) 5 sec. after I handed it to him....BAM! We got a hit! You should have seen the look on my son's face. Full of joy and excitement. He still had a little trouble reeling in so I would help him. That sucker was taking some drag! Once we got him to shore I unhooked the LMB and took a picture with my son and the fish. My son did not want to have anything to do with it once we got it to shore.....he just keep running away from it! hahaha.
Put the LMB back in and I'd estimate it at about 2-3 lbs.
Its truely memorable to me becuase it was my son's first fish! And it turned out to be the biggest LMB to date.
It was just amazing to me that I was fishing for 20+ min and then I hand it to my son....5 sec. later....fish on!

Post Re: Most memorable fish you've caught
So many epic memories fishing with Dad over my life span. Suppose it would be the trip to Montana where I caught a huge rainbow trout casting off a cliff...and the northern pike we caught trolling back in 1973. I remember hiding under the truck during the hail storm of golf balls, while dad and his friend Larry were loading the boat back onto the trailer. Have to pull out the pictures...I know where they are!
As of recent, I would have to say was April 24, 2009. It was our last half day of fishing before heading home. Rippin_lips and I were throwing frogs on the west bank of Cache Creek, when I looked over my right shoulder and spoted my next target on the east side. It was a lonely wood pier about 8x6 feet, two 4x4 posts with 1x4 cross bracing, painter red. This sat pon a gravel and dirt bank adorned with wild grass and small shrubbery to the left side. With the positioning of the morning sun, a shadow cast to the inside of the left corner pier post. This was clearly a long cast to the opposite side of the creek. I called out my target to Mike and took my best shot. As my hollow body frog sails away with spray off my reel, we witness my "perfect cast" landing just passed the post under the pier with a very small splash. One twich and "shup" Fight is on all the way to the boat. One Target, One cast, One fish! Thanks for the boat ride and memories Mike! Look I'm on the Tracker! [green]
