 Re: Marina Beach Stripers
Thanks for info RL!,
I caught my biggest striper off that beach on a low tide in February of all months. 39" on a motor oil grub. Once I landed the fish the hook broke off in its mouth. Lucky me!

 Re: Marina Beach Stripers
I went to zmudowski beach today.I got there about 7 am.l started walking to the right towards the pajaro river mouth. There were about 10 guys down there.I never fished there before, but I heard Glenn say that the stripers were up north. So after getting skunked my last 3 trips,I figured I,d try it out.The sun was already out when I got There and there was no wind at all .So I tried a pencil Popper for like 20 minutes , nada.So I put on a fish trap and looked for the holes.I just got a new st croix rod and a penn sargus reel and ,haveway better casting distance now than the 30 buck combo that I caught the 22 pounder on.Anyways Icast out and work it back in, and I get a hit but no hookup. Icast ot a few more times and nothing. This is at 7:30 AM.So I cast again and get slammed hard ,I fight it for 5 minutes and almost lose it.But get it in. its a 17 1/2 pound striper.I take some pics try for more ,but no more bites.Other guys there had caught on sand crabs ,topwater and fishtraps.one guy had 3. A good day,.. tight lines

 Re: Marina Beach Stripers
Right on Spike. Feels good to have a successful fishing day after ones that weren't so well for catching anything. I'm a true master at being skunked alot but it makes it all the more sweet when you finally run into some good ones. Nice fish, thanks for the pictures.

 Re: Marina Beach Stripers
Ironman..you rig a fishtrap with a lead head jig,it is triangle shaped and has a fish eye on both sides with a hook attached to it.I like a 1 oz jig head with a 4/0 hook and a 5 inch fishtrap body.I won,t go into colors that much.As I have my personal favorites. but some people use a red head and a white body.I hope that helps.

 Re: Marina Beach Stripers
Went out to the surf for a bit tonight with two others. Got one fish tonite at the same spot I've been gettin em this summer. It went about 8 lbs and was actually pretty skinny. Bit a white hairraiser. If anyone wants to go out shoot me a PM. Bring your game face =P. BTW it was kind of nasty out there today but I did see smelt washing up on the beach which is a good sign. I'll try to post a pic in the morning
