 Loch Lomond Micropterus salmoides
Who knew Loch Lomond was such an amazing place... I caught these big ones (and more not pictured) in the exact same places over 3 days (Fri, Sun, Mon)...and released them all! Pretty much first cast too! Used different lures as well. From a Bass Assassins to a Shell Cracker. Fancy rigs and cheaper ones (Diawa Luna & Dobyns to Quantum spinning & Allstar) Best, Marcus

 Re: Loch Lomond Micropterus salmoides
Congratulations!! The Loch is one of the prettiest lakes around but also one of the toughest to catch bass. I used to take my kids trout fishing there since it used to be pretty consistent. Great job and a beautiful fish.

 Re: Loch Lomond Micropterus salmoides
Hey! Thanks for the kind words! Feels good to get lucky! Its a hard lake to fish and it took several outings until I figured out where the big ones are, what the want, and most importantly, how they want it. At the Loch you can rent a paddle, rowing or electric powered boat (trolling motor). The way to go is to rent an electric motor boat all day for $65. They don't allow outside boats. There are some good spots to shore fish from, but your opportunities go up exponentially with a boat as you can only access one side of the lake on foot. They are only open on the weekends until Oct 15, then they are closed till March.

 Re: Loch Lomond Micropterus salmoides
These are really awesome fish. Did you rent a boat on all three days? I go there a lot and I know the spots that are in the pictures. However, I'm thinking that maybe you caught them in a boat and then released them at those spots? Hey, maybe they're still there.
Also, were you able to catch after the morning bite? I am thinking of going there after my kid's soccer game, but that will get to be about noon, not a good time, I'm thinking.
Actually, maybe I was talking to you on Monday. Were you in a green boat with your son? I know that people can store their private boat at the lake if they pay a onetime fee for the season and don't move it from the lake area.
Also, where are some good places to catch bluegill near san jose? I want to catch a ton of them with my young kid.

 Re: Loch Lomond Micropterus salmoides
Dude, that was me with my kid! My son was stoked to see you since he was REALLY admiring your pictures of Loch Lomond bass for the last week or so. In my son's view, YOU ARE THE MAN! Cool. He calls you "Mr. San Jose Bass."
Hey, thanks for the tip about the time that the bite is on. If you have any more tips for Loch Lomond, let me know. My son is a fishing addict and I don't really know how to fish that well. Send me a private message if you want. It seemed like you were fishing along the shore from the parking lot out toward the end of the lake and stopping at places along the way. My son and I have been walking in straight toward deer flat. It's a long way there for a young kid. I thought that the places closer to the parking lot would be fished out. However, I guess not!
He scored a couple of bass on a fly rod and wants more. These are small compared to your 4 lb monsters.
