Post Fishing San Luis Res or Forebay Sunday
Any other SJBass boaters wanna join us for a striper search?
Thinking about a Sunday outing with Rick and JimJr. Wind is down all weekend with fog till 9 am with cloud cover. 2-4 mph all day according to accuweather. Would sure love to cast into a wall of fog again, watching my bait disappear...as it sails away out of sight. Must have gps or nav of some sort. Check your fuel, oil, and running lights on your boat too. Don't forget to charge them batteries! (8-| lol
Who's interested?

Good luck and find them top water bites!!
Wish I could fish too...
Im aiming for early spring to get me a boat... we will see.
Still have one CC to pay off..8000 and counting....

San Luis Res is where we decided to fish. For once Rick and I were right on time and JR. was way late...so he bought breakfast for the road at Mac. D's .
Passed through inspection which was delightfully fast, effortless and courtious. On the water real fast and efficiently, heading out for "what was left of our morning top water bite. I managed 2 keepers in the livewell before Kolohe fell overboard...again! (8-|
Went to boucin bait deep for what seemed like eternity!
JR sticks 4-5 fish, with one nice keeper around 25 inches, guessing 8 pounds. (yes I have a scale on board...brand new, used once...not today.)
After a loss of confidense by Rick, his mellow dramatic, "let's move" turns into his rod bent over with a hookset less than 2 minutes after. His went about 24 inches and 5-6 pounds. I swear his voice changed to 3 octaves higher in pitch from that moment on, for the next 1/2 an hour.
Fun watching those two battle fish to the boat, and explode when they get em in the net.
Not much to say about my two fish, other than "they measured". (8-| Both my fish were back to back, on top water, with a fast walking retrieve.
In closing I may say...
"Getting the first fish isn't always that great. When after the first 10 casts...the rest are just practice!" 8-)

Hey Raggamuffin
Does the inspectors accept the band that is put on by the Calero inspectors, and do they reband your boat with the same.?
Sounds like you had a good day.I never fished the forebay, always went to the delta.Gotta try it,hence the post.

the calero band and the band for the forebay are different. you have to get re-inspected and rebanded.also went out sunday and caught maybe 10 undersized and one 5lber.. on swimbaits, and topwater

Well I showed up with the Calero band on my boat and they are not the same...though they look similar. A completely different county, so you need to get inspected. My Calero band seemed to make the inspection less intense. They still inspected me but seemed more linient to making the process quick...for there was condensation build up from the road trip at 3 am in the heavy fog. My top cap was dripping with moisture. Rangers there are very pleasant and friendly.
Raymond...we launched and fished San Luis along the dam. On our way our we got rebanded.

Right on RICK! 8-)
I know there a quite a bit of controversy on inspections and there are issues that need to be addressed with banding. However the bands are for saving me money...should I return in the future.
Speaking of ways to cheat inspections here in my opinion, is unacceptable and can result in making them unavailable...meaning I would have to pay for inspection each and every trip out! ;(
Just need to get all of California to be united...with the agreement to accept and trust that each region or county officer is doing their jobs properly. So in turn, we may be granted access to all California waters with a band from anywhere within California, without inspection and fee's. All counties are doing the same inspections, so why not honor other county bands within our state? Only reason I can guess not to is cash revenue! I have spent at least $120.00 for inspections in the last 3 months I have owned my boat, and I have not left the state. I just can't stay in one county. ;(

What time do you arrive, and where do you launch at? I might try and meet you at the launch. Dmun and Dad mentioned Delta to me...no plans yet. I know their boat is temp. parked so I said I'd take em out sometime.

If I go I will launch from dinosaur point this time. It really depends on how the wind is doing this morning. Are usually check it before I leave the house in the morning from gilroy. That would be great if you go along too, that way we could be fishing different areas and see who finds the fish first. :D
