Post Catfish at bass ponds?
Has anyone heard about or had first hand experiences with catfish at any of the local ponds, like Campbell perc ponds or oakridge pond or even the Santa Clara water district ponds?

Yeah, I guess I myself am asking the same question, what are the best bodies of water around here (bay area) to fish for catfish, besides parkway. Who's had what experiences where?

BTW I did an evening bass fishin trip at the delta this past weekend, launched at 6pm fished bass in disco bay til 11pm then tied up on someones dock (private property) and threw out 3 lines each with the simple weight at the bottom and 2 hooks above and inline. used anchovies, chicken livers, and nightcrawlers / redworms. Fished catfish with that stuff from 11pm-6am with a few sleeping hours in there too. Landed 10 catfish, and pretty much everyone on the nightcrawlers or red worms. After that did a few more hours of fishin for largies and headed home. Was a good night and had a great dinner of catfish and bass.

I know everyones about C&R or CPR but out on the delta there are so many 12 or 14 inch bass out there that the rangers have even said that taking a couple home a trip for eatin is beneficial to the population. and they really are good eatin. I promise to stay CPR at the small body fisheries here though

You are not going to get any simpathy around this forum for keeping bass. I understand that people like to eat all kinds of fish, but like TheGreyElephant said a long time ago in a post, if you are going to keep the bass you catch don't even post that you did because alot of us don't want to hear it. I am sorry for sounding rude but I thought I might give you the heads up on the reaction you might get.

tehehehe, and the first sentence of bassakwards message should apply to someone on the forum though he doesnt eat them he takes home many, i feel that taking home a bass for any reason deserves no sympathy

He said he had a great dinner of catfish and bass. I did not post that to make mullhair.corey feel bad or start any sh**. I just don't think alot of people on this forum want to know if people are keeping bass. I know it happens and I know it is their right to do so, but I just wanted to let him know what to expect in the future. As far as catfish, I have seen big cats in the Campbell perk ponds and I have heard Uvas resovoir is a good spot. Sorry again M.C if I caused any problems for you, I didn't mean too.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, actions and ideas, as well as one's own reactions to any one of those. I don't mean to offend anyone when I say that I did that. It's not a common occurrence and certainly I wouldn't ever remove a bass from a small local body of water or fishery. Not to mention around here the ones that are legal are prolly old enough to have ingested an unhealthy level of mercury, another deturrent for those local anglers who think about removing bass from their waters and keeping them.

On another note, I'm thinking about maybe devoting an evening to a Campbell perc ponds catfishing quest, does anyone know how deep the big ponds go?

At Bubb rd and McClellan Rd over by DeAnza college there is a pond I have been fishing lately. Small, but my friends and I have been pulling out a few bass, but in the evenings we have been fishing for catfish/carp....

Have already pulled out over 3 catfish over 8lbs...fishing anything from chicken livers to kielbasa...all have produced...

make sure to bring a net because it has a fence line all around the pond, rangers have no problem with people fishing here as long as you dont go over the fence...

Hahah no way, I grew up in Cupertino and Still live there. I have seen people fish for bass back there in the pond behind 7-11 and even seen some catches and some big slabs swimming around there. Any pictures of catches from there by any chance? God I'd love to pull in a big Cat right from my backyard.. Thanks!
