Been getting skunked lately at calero, uvas, and chesbro.
Hey Guys This is my first post in this forum, excited to learn as much as I can about bass fishin from you guys! Just recently got into bass fishing, and really love everything about it. But My last 4 trips, ( including lake eastman) were pretty much duds. I landed a 6 incher from calero, and a few 4 to 6 inchers from eastman, but got skunked at uvas, and chesbro. Do you guys have any specific hot spots on any of the three reservoirs? I know it's probably a well kept secret of yours but maybe if you can share some second best locations for a fellow bass fisher I sure would appreciate it!

I've fished Uvas a bunch of times the past few weeks and the morning bite is non existent. I throw almost everything, try different depths, and different structures but still nothing in the morning. The afternoon into the evening bite has been a much better. Try rattle traps, spinnerbaits, dropshot, or senkos. Find any rocky areas at uvas and you will find fish.

When I fish a spot for 15-20 minutes and get no bites, I move on to the next stop. Sometimes I end up coming back to these spots and getting a fish. Then again, I fish mostly ponds and small lakes, so you can pick up on a pattern where fish tend to be and not be depending on the time/condition.

It maybe the start of the winter turn over, water levels and temp starting to go down.. I have been doing alright but I am covering allot of water to do so.. Last week the first four fish were on four differant baits, found an area and a pattern later in the day for the rest of the fish, not really sure which on it was.. Fish are starting to suspend and will get more difficult as the water starts to cool more..
Couple things to key in on: rocks, depth and using baits at all levels of the water column. I have been catching them on in all depth right now. Soon they will pack up and stay, once you catch a fish stick with the area and presentation for a while before moving on.

Thanks Set'em Good,
True words of wisdom there. I was there yesterday and had a mean bite on a drop shot rig, but as soon as I went to set the hook I realized that he didn't have the hook in his mouth. big guy damn near scared the crap outta me yankin out atleast 2 to 3 feet of line. He really caught me off guard.
Planning to go back today, after stopping by the tackle shop to grab some larger drop shot hooks =)

Re: Been getting skunked lately at calero, uvas, and chesbro
Like set em said the fish are scattered. The weather and water is cooling. The fish are in a transition mode. They will start going deep and I know some have already started. I went out the other day, did 16# for biggest 5 and two of them went 5#. The first fish caught was in 27ft of water. I was fishing verticle on structure and humps. They are stacked below the crappie and bait fish. We also picked them up the same day in about 2 feet of water which was the first 5#. I figured I would take a gamble on the cold day and flip/punch. I ended up picking up the 2nd 5# immediatley and flipped he next mat and pulles a 3#. The rest came in about 15 ft. So just fish different techniques, and know that the better ones need to feed now to prepare for the winter. This was all at calero.

I've been to Uvas a handful of times in the last 2 weeks and the morning bite has slowed down considerably. Whats been working for me is a heavy jig (1/4-1/2oz) in deep water with a crawling retrieve. Slower the better. Good luck.
