Re: Ban the A-rig in tournaments petition
I am more worried about how the A-rig is going to effect our fisheries. Since Bassmasters came to clearlake 5 years or so back and caught 30+ # sacs on tv, I have noticed a decline of numbers and quality. Not to mention the condition of the fish I now catch. Main concern being dead release #s per tourney every year(preventable and rediculous). Seems to be less of a concern to directors, rather than the money everyone can make off the little green guy. Come on now really...One pound penalty?
Second concern is the spawn time tourneys, pulling fish from beds full of eggs to weigh in, never to return to care for them...hence less reproduction/repopulating. Might this be better for the human race...already too many selfish, non-careing, rude, baddy individuals in this world. Fire Burn!
Now introduce the A-rig, catch and move around more #s of bass, stressing and tearing em up. I can't remember the last time I caught 3 pound bass without a sore mouth at the very least. Maybe a ripped jaw on one side, with a large hole on the other, good side of the mouth, from the livewell markers...I shake my head, feeling bad about catching him again and causing even more trauma!
Let's have 100 boats fishing a tourney, with 50 of them throwing nothing but the A-rig(100/200 anglers) and see how the catch #s increase that one, one day tourney. Multiplied by the # of days of competition this year...hmmmm? Doesn't look good for the little green fish we all love so much.
In our future, maybe we can be like Japan, and go wild with celebration and joy when we land a 12 inch bass, and post our picture on the back of the fishing magazine as an amazing feat! (who has seen that in the Japan fish mags and wonder huh?)
As a fun fishing bait...sure why not? I might even give it a try, but not for competition. I have seen what this rig can do and it deeply concerns me...
